Alice in Wonderland Book Review

"Alice in Wonderland" is a book about an eleven year old girl who one day is at a stream with her sister. Alice suddenly sees a white rabbit with a pocket watch who talks, and follows it down a rabbit hole into Wonderland.

Alice fell down the rabbit hole for hours. Once she landed at the bottom, she found a little door that had a beautiful garden inside, but Alice was too big to fit through the little door. Then she found a bottle that said on a piece of paper "drink me", so she drank the whole thing. She shrank to fit in the little door, but it was locked. Then she found a little gold key on the table, but she was to little to reach it. Then she found a cake that said "eat me" so she ate it and it made her big to reach the little key.

When Alice finally goes into the garden she meets a talking caterpillar that tells her to meet the red queen for a game of croquet. On her way to meet the red queen she meets the cheshire cat who shows her the way to the red queen.

Alice played a game with the queen with live animals. The queen gets into a fight with Alice because Alice won the game and sends her to court. Alice can hear from the jail cells all of her friends crying for help, because the queen had captured them and was going to behead them. Then her sister wakes up Alice and she realizes it was just a dream.

The Lighting Thief

Percy Jackson is a 12 year old boy that has ADHD and dyslexia. He goes to Yancy Academy. When he is accused of stealing Zeus's lightning bolt. He finds out that he is the son of Poseidon the God of the sea. He then goes on a quest to find Zeus's lighting bolt.

On their way to camp, Percy, Grover (who is Percy's protector), and Percy's mom must fight off a Minotaur. Percy thinks his mom is killed, so he kills the Minotaur.

At Camp Half Blood, he makes friends with Annabeth, the daughter of Athena and Luke, the son of Hermes. After a battle with Annabeth, Percy finds out that water heals him. Percy,Grover,and Annabeth go on a quest to find the lightning bolt.

On their way to the underworld they get lost and find themselves at Auntie Emm's Emporium where they fought off Medusa. Once back on their journey, they are approached by Ares the god of war, who offers another quest to find his shield to tell Percy information about his mom who is still alive.

After completing Ares quest, they headed to Santa Monica where Percy meets a water spirit that gives him three pearls that have to be crushed to get out of the underworld. Percy goes to the underworld and talks to Hades. Hades helm is missing. Percy also learns that the lightning bolt all along was in his backpack placed there by Luke.

After they get out of the under world Ares challenges Percy to fight Ares get hurt and runs away. Percy goes to Mt. Olympus returns the lightning bolt to Zeus. Percy tells Zeus the story and Zeus believes him. Poseidon tells Percy he is proud of him and when he returns home his mom will be there. Percy then returns to Camp Half blood where he is meant to live.

I read the book and I saw the movie. The book was better because it had more detail to it. The movie skipped a lot of scenes, even the beginning was different. So, I would rather choose to read the book than see the movie, but I enjoyed both.If you like greek mytholgy and adventure you would like these books.

Here is a picture of a pair of earings I created from wire using beads. I really like the peace symbol so I chose that as my inspiration to create these earings.

The Secret Garden

Once there was a girl who lived in India. Her name was Mary Lenox. She was a spoiled child. Her mother and father died of a disease. Mary Lenox was sent to live with her uncle Mr. Craven and a woman who lived with five children.

Mary woke up to find that there was a housemaid, Martha and a butler, John. Martha told Mary about her brother, Dikon who befriends animals. One day Mary went out into the garden. Mary met the gardener, Ben Weatherstaff in the garden.

Mary made friends with a red chested robin. The robin showed Mary where to find the key to the secret garden. Mary gathered tools that Dikon gave her. Mary then met Colin, who is in a wheel chair. Colin is Mr. Craven’s son, Mary and Colin are cousins.

Mary, Colin, and Dikon planted seeds in the secret garden. After time Mary, Dikon helped Colin to walk again in the secret garden. The flowers in the secret garden bloomed with the help of Mary, Colin, and Dikon.

Surviving in Nature

Once upon a time there lived a girl named Peace who lived in the jungles of Hawaii. She lived in a hut made out of leaves, bamboo, and tall stakes so the wild boars wouldn't get her food. For fun she played on the beach with her friend, Jeepers who was a tiger cub. Peace would get hungry and have Jeepers climb up banana trees while Peace looked for other tropical fruit. For breakfast she had fruit while Jeepers went hunting. Sometimes, Jeepers climbed up a nearby coconut tree got a few coconuts for lunch. Afterwards, they went to a waterfall to take a bath. Before falling asleep Peace and Jeepers layed on the roof and watched the stars all night.

where the red fern grows

Billy was a young boy who lived in the Ozark Mountains with his Ma, Pa, and 3 little sisters. His mother wanted to move to town so that the kids could have a good education. Billy had a dog wanting disease and saved his money for 2 years to buy coon hounds. Billy went to town to pick up the coon hounds, which he named Old Dan and Little Ann. Billy loved his dogs. Billy loved hunting for coons with Old Dan and Little Ann. One day Billy went to Grandpa's store. Grandpa showed Billy a champion coon hunt. Billy won the coon hunt. One day Old Dan and Little Ann chased a mountain lion up a tree. The mountain lion came down the tree and the coon hounds fought the lion. Old Dan lost a lot of blood and died and Little Ann died of a broken heart.A red fern grew between the graves of Old Dan and Little Ann. Then the family moved to town.
